Abstract
Metal pressure treatment (MPT) is the basis of many progressive resource-saving technologies.
To realize the majority of MPT technological processes, it is necessary to realize the pressure of the tool
or some medium on a part of the workpiece or in several specifically arranged blanks.
Cold forging (CF) is widely used in stamping production. Application of CF together with
other stamping operations allows to obtain finished details that do not require or almost do not
require further machining. Stamped parts are distinguished by increased accuracy and surface
cleanliness, a clear contour, and also increased strength and stiffness as a result of hardening during
cold deformation. Draft is one of the most commonly used free forging operations.
This process belongs to the number of insufficiently studied. Lack of fundamental
knowledge about the process can cause a lengthy process development, and will make it difficult to
innovate the operation. The prediction of the properties of products received by the draft, as well as
the design and implementation of the process, is carried out in most cases in an empirical way.
Analytical models are available, but not fully capable of covering all phenomena.
